GENERAL >RECTOR'S MESSAGE

Our University has a distinguishing feature - we are connected with the railway transport and train specialists who will have a lot of work with them in different structures of railway industry whose role and importance for Russia cannot be overestimated. Transport component was and still remains the major element in the State's economy. That is why exactly the University performs an uneasy task - to train personnel who could work in new conditions and satisfy the requirements of world standards.

The University provides its students with modern knowledge oriented towards fast changes in the railway system. The classes and laboratories' equipments of the University meet all the requirements of our modern time.

Particular attention is paid to students' practical work. They have a good chance to combine the work in students' "construction group" with practical work at the railway industry enterprises.

Irkutsk State University of Railway Engineering is the youngest transport university in Russia. Since we are young we are still growing and developing. And this development is in the establishment of new programs that are claimed by the labour market.

Looking back at the passed road we come to the conclusion that we have managed to do a lot. But nevertheless, we'll have to do much more things in prospect. We should become a potent educational complex. With our potential and teaching staff that we have at the University it is within our grasp.
